Carol Calabrese, BS, RN, CIC

Carol Calabrese is a Registered Nurse with more than 40 years of experience in healthcare serving in acute and long-term care. Carol’s experience and former roles include serving as the System Director of Epidemiology and Infection Control Services for a healthcare system in Ft. Myers, FL, Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO as well as serving in Interim Leadership Roles. While serving in acute care, Carol was instrumental in achieving a no recommendation rating and outcome during multiple Joint Commission surveys within her respective Infection Prevention and Control Department. Her longstanding experience encompasses Acute Care, Long Term Care, Home Health, Hospital Clinics, and Physician Practice.

Carol held positions as Clinical Specialist and Infection Prevention at Bard Medical Division Consulting supporting customers on the prevention of catheter associated urinary tract infections. She was Senior Clinical Advisor at Diversey, Inc. where she supported customers with education and the selection and use of disinfectants and environmental hygiene practices and processes in healthcare. In 2016, Carol served the Greater Kansas City APIC as President, President-Elect in 2015, and she served as a board member and conference planning committee member. She has also served on the boards of DFW APIC and FPIC (Florida Professionals of Infection Control) as Secretary.

Carol is board certified in Infection Prevention and Control by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC®) since 1990.  She is a Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) in 2021 through the American Hospital Association as well as a certified trainer for surgical cleaning technicians (T-CSCT).

Carol earned her bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Barry University, and her associate degree in Nursing from Alfred State College.
