Claire Burchfield, MSW, BA, LCSW, CPHQ

Claire Burchfield is a healthcare consultant with 11 years of experience in that role. She consults with a wide variety of behavioral health organizations and psychiatric hospitals across the country to achieve and sustain Joint Commission accreditation and CMS compliance. Ms. Burchfield works with organizations accredited under either the Joint Commission Hospital Standards or Behavioral Health Care and Human Services Standards. Ms. Burchfield has also guided agencies toward CARF accreditation. She has worked with hospital systems throughout the country to design environmental and clinical mitigation strategies to promote patient safety.

Prior to consulting, Ms. Burchfield had extensive operational experience as the leader for organization-wide Joint Commission readiness. She served in this role for 11 years as the Director for Quality Management for Southeastern Mental Health Authority, a community based behavioral health organization serving over 3,000 clients annually. She was also responsible for contracting with general and private hospitals for acute inpatient services, ensuring quality of care and positive outcomes.

Her added operational leadership experience includes five years as the Associate Executive Director for Southeastern Mental Health Authority. In that role, she had executive responsibility for the clinical, fiscal, and administrative leadership of an $18M network of behavioral health services. During her career, Ms. Burchfield has developed many Programs, piloting initiatives such as ACT, Case Management, and has substantial experience providing service to agencies and patients involved in the criminal justice system.

Ms. Burchfield received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Connecticut and her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Charter Oak State College in CT. She is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ.)  Ms. Burchfield’s vision is to ensure her consulting makes a difference for the hospitals, agencies, and the people they serve.
