Dave Watson, MD, D.A.B.A.
David Watson is a highly experienced Anesthesiologist and hospital leader. He brings more than 40 years of experience leading and demonstrating improvements in healthcare quality and new protocols that continue to impact healthcare organizations nationwide. Dr. Watson served as Medical Director of Surgical Service and Cardiopulmonary Service at Banner Churchill Community Hospital, Chairman of the OB Anesthesia Consensus Group for Banner Health, Director of Anesthesia Services at Texas Stephenville, and he served as Co-Chairman for the ACLM on OB-GYN and the Law Meeting in 2005.
Dr. Watson served in multiple leadership roles at Banner Churchill including Chief of Staff, Vice Chief of Staff, Chairman of the Surgery Department, and Secretary of Staff. In 2002, Dr. Watson specialized in post-operative pulmonary complications where he led a completed study that used novel data sets to implement a new protocol requiring more vigorous respiratory therapy, less narcotic and regional anesthesia. The new protocol decreased complication rates by 75%.
At Mountain View Hospital in Payson, UT, Dr. Watson served as Supervisor of Anesthesia Service, Chairman of Hospital Services, and Physician Director of Respiratory Therapy among other leadership roles.
Dr. Watson was a Physician Surveyor for The Joint Commission from July 2014 until June 2022. During this time, he was Team Lead on numerous surveys.
In his forty years of experience serving as a Board-Certified Physician of Anesthesiology, Dr. Watson served in over twenty hospitals and healthcare organizations that also included twenty years of experience in numerous additional healthcare organizations by providing Emergency Medicine services.
Dr. Watson earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedicine with distinction in 1970 from the University of Nevada, Reno. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Oregon Medical School in 1974 and completed his Anesthesiology Residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in 1977. Over the course of his career he completed numerous certifications including becoming a Diplomate for the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Anesthesiology, and Fellow of the American College of Anesthesiologists.
