Denise Haynes, MSN, MBA, RN, CCRN, LSSMBB

Denise Haynes is passionate about high-quality healthcare that improves patient outcomes. She has over 40 years of clinical experience – including bedside nursing, executive leadership, consulting, and training. She is experienced in all aspects of regulatory compliance, including using the accreditation standards of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Conditions of Participation, Joint Commission (TJC), Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP), and Det Norske Veritas (DNV) to conduct mock surveys, developing and implementing corrective action plans, and/or as director of accreditation while being surveyed. She has been a clinical accreditation surveyor since 2017. She has also coached numerous organizations and physician practices for implementation and corrective action regarding HIPAA, EMTALA, ADA, EPA, and billing compliance issues. Ms. Haynes also served for over 25 years as an examiner, team lead, trainer, technical editor, and case study author for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Program.

Ms. Haynes has been a performance excellence consultant since 2005, facilitating strategic planning, developing effective action plans to address strategic initiatives and opportunities for improvement, and helping organizations implement successful improvement projects. Client organizations have found her to be a highly engaging trainer to teach, foster, and facilitate improvements in both efficiency and effectiveness of processes. One client organization enjoyed a 37:1 documented financial return on investment from her training, simultaneously improving employee engagement and patient outcomes.

Ms. Haynes has presented highly rated sessions for the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), National Association of Healthcare Quality (NAHQ), the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), the Department of Veterans Affairs, DNV Healthcare Symposia, and many members of the Alliance for Performance Excellence. Ms. Haynes often receives positive comments for her “unpretentious knowledge sharing.” Having spent decades identifying both role-model processes and areas in dire need of rapid improvement, she is well-versed in “meeting us where we are and helping implement improvements that actually work.”

Ms. Haynes was the first graduate of the dual-degree Master of Science in Nursing/Master of Business Administration (MSN/MBA) program at Kent State University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the Ohio State University and has been a longstanding member of Sigma Theta Tau (the international honor society for nurses), as well as the Mensa Society. She has been continuously certified in critical care nursing (CCRN) by the American Society for Critical Care Nurses since 1979, and as a Lean/Six Sigma Master Black Belt by the American Society for Quality since 2007.
