Herman McKenzie, MBA, BS, CHSP

Herman McKenzie is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in healthcare physical environment operations and regulatory compliance. He has held leadership roles in all aspects of hospital support services, including biomedical equipment maintenance, plant operations, construction, safety, security, and more.

Mr. McKenzie has a strong background in accreditation and compliance, having led these activities for a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, ambulatory surgery, and dialysis centers. His expertise includes policy writing, developing environment of care, management plans, and creating plans of correction for CMS and state findings.

Mr. McKenzie has also served on national committees, including the National Fire Protection Associations’ (NFPA) Healthcare Interpretation Task Force and Facilities Guidelines Institute (FGI). While at the Joint Commission, he managed the Central Office operations of the Physical Environment department, overseeing interpretation and education for surveyors and customers on a variety of topics.

He also represented the Joint Commission at conferences and authored content for national and international publications, including those for the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) and the Association for the Advancement for Medical Instrumentation (AAMI).

A former director on the board for AAMI, he continues to contribute by creating and teaching educational content. Herman holds a Bachelor Degree in Electronics/Management from Southern Illinois University and a Master of Business Administration from Governors State University.
