Robert Booth, MPH, CIH
Robert Booth has over 30 years of healthcare compliance experience in environment of care, life safety, infection industrial hygiene, and public health. In addition to serving as Hospital Safety Officer and Hospital Risk Manager, Robert is a former Federal Compliance Officer at the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration. He has dedicated over fifteen years to working in regulatory and risk management in both hospital administration and consulting.
Robert specializes in Joint Commission compliance in Life Safety, Environment of Care, and Emergency Management as well as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. He further advises private, governmental, and military healthcare organizations on compliance and regulatory consulting services.
Robert is a current member in the following Committees: FGI [Facilities Guidelines Institute] HGRC (Health Guidelines Revision Committee), Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals and Outpatient Facilities (2018, 2022, 2026 edition), ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers) Standards Committee, 170, Ventilation of Health Care Facilities, ASHRAE 188 [serving as ASHE representative] Legionella Risk in Building Systems, ASHRAE 514 [Voting Member] Waterborne Pathogens in Building Systems, NFPA 101 Healthcare Occupancies, and Robert is one of the primary authors of ICRA 2.0 updated [2022] form and ICRA 2.0 Process.
Robert holds a faculty position at the University of South Florida, College of Public Health and Medicine, Residence Program, and he holds a faculty position with ASHE. Robert is a certified firefighter, credentialed by OSHA and NFPA in Life Safety. He holds dual master’s degrees in public health for Epidemiology and Industrial Hygiene and in Infection Disease Prevention. He is Board Certified in Industrial Hygiene, and he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.
Robert is also a member of the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE), American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC).
