Beginning her career in frontline sterile processing, Rubena developed expertise in decontamination, assembly, sterilization, case cart management, and High-Level Disinfection (HLD) before advancing into educator, leadership, and consulting roles. This unique progression provides her with a comprehensive understanding of sterile processing operations from both frontline and executive perspectives.

A passionate educator and mentor, Rubena has successfully trained, coached, and mentored more than 100 sterile processing professionals in obtaining and maintaining industry certifications. Her educational programs emphasize competency-based learning, critical thinking, regulatory compliance, and practical application, equipping technicians with the knowledge and confidence necessary to excel in today's complex healthcare environment.

Rubena's consulting engagements have produced measurable accreditation and compliance outcomes. On multiple assignments, she was brought in to support facilities that had previously failed Joint Commission reviews. Through focused staff education, competency validation, process improvement, workflow redesign, and regulatory readiness initiatives, these organizations successfully corrected deficiencies and achieved successful Joint Commission survey outcomes. Her ability to identify operational gaps and implement sustainable improvements has made her a trusted resource for healthcare organizations seeking lasting results.

Unlike traditional consultants who focus solely on assessments and recommendations, Rubena integrates hands-on education, competency development, and real time coaching into every engagement. She believes sustainable improvement occurs when staff are educated, engaged, and empowered throughout the process. This collaborative approach helps organizations strengthen compliance, improve quality outcomes, and build cultures of continuous improvement.

Additional professional accomplishments include supporting successful Joint Commission surveys, assisting in the planning and design of a new ambulatory surgery center, contributing recommendations for a new decontamination department, and developing educational programs that have strengthened both individual career advancement and departmental performance. Rubena's professional mission is to develop sterile processing professionals and create cultures of excellence that enhance patient safety, strengthen regulatory compliance, and support surgical teams through reliable, high-quality instrument reprocessing practices.
